If your car needs repairing or servicing, specialist garages are the cost-effective option to deliver you a high quality service.
“The technical advancements in the motoring industry means new models really do need to go to a specialist or main dealer for their maintenance,” says Natalie Bartlett from Bartlett Automotive – a BMW and MINI garage based in Huntington and Peterborough.
“Specialist garages can offer a more competitively priced service and highly experienced mechanics at more affordable rates. Like dealer garages, you’ll get warranty on all repairs, as well as updates in your service history.”
While it can be tempting to go for the cheaper prices offered by non specialist garages, it’s worth bearing in mind that they may not have the necessary equipment or manufacturer support to carry out diagnostics or repairs effectively and efficiently, which could cost you more in the long run. Servicing options can also be limited, especially if you have a high-end car.
“A cheaper quote can quickly become more expensive due to poor repairs and lower quality consumables being used to keep the price down,” adds Natalie.
“Service resets may not be possible and maintenance regimes may not be correctly followed, leading to problems later on.
“We are seeing more and more ‘general’ garages calling us for advice, and in some cases they are actually bringing the vehicle to us to the do repairs for them. This can add both time and cost to the customer’s invoice.”
Skilled brand technicians can identify familiar engine sound changes which can help lead to early detection of potentially high- cost repairs. One such example is the timing chain fault, commonly associated with the BMW 1-Series, 3-Series and 5-Series vehicles built between 2007 and 2009. An early detection of this fault is a distinct rattle from the engine compartment. This early detection allows for a preventative rather than a reactive repair, which can save you a great deal of money.
Bartlett Automotive offer routine service and vehicle maintenance, as well as timing chain replacements, engine de-cokes, programming and performance upgrades.
